ABOUT THE AGENT: Sasha Landauer was promoted to literary agent at Writers House in 2025. Sasha has worked alongside Susan Golomb since 2023, providing editorial and business support to her clients who include Jonathan Franzen, Rachel Kushner, Vauhini Vara, Nell Zink, Yvon Chouinard, Danielle Trussoni, and Angie Kim. She has worked particularly closely with William Vollmann, Hallie Elizabeth Newton, Sophie Madeline Dess, Nancy Foley, and Imbolo Mbue. Sasha is the founding editor of Notch, a literary and arts magazine based in New York and Paris. Short-form fiction has a special place in her heart, and she would love to use her industry connections to place clients’ work in top magazines. Prior to joining Writers House, Sasha co-founded a venture-backed outdoor gear company, worked as a small-town journalist, exhumed bones on an archeological dig in Mauritius, and interned on the foreign exchange team at Bridgewater. She grew up between New York City and Northern California, and attended Stanford University, where she studied Comparative Literature and Philosophy. She is particularly interested in literary and upmarket fiction as well as narrative nonfiction by journalists and subject-matter experts. She loves stories about complicated friendship (Yiyun Li's BOOK OF GOOSE) and sibling dynamics (Sally Rooney’s INTERMEZZO), shocking interiority (Henry Hoke's OPEN THROAT), and richly-conjured settings that mirror internal landscapes (Paolo Cognetti's THE LOVERS). Sasha is drawn to precise, slightly withholding prose in the style of Tove Jansson and Lydia Davis as well as stories with jaw-dropping twists (Tony Tulathimutte's REJECTION). She is looking for novels that feel unputdownable because of their intimate narrative voice (Ann Patchett’s TOM LAKE) or thrilling urgency (Percival Everett’s JAMES). Sasha has a particular interest in stories that capture fraught relationships (Lauren Groff’s FATES AND FURIES) and examine the intricacies of queerness, building empathy in unexpected ways. Sasha is not the best agent for memoirs, YA or children's books, or stories centering graphic sexual assault.
