ABOUT THE AGENT:

Katie Ferriello
is the newest agent to join the Mansion Street Literary Management team. Her focus is on romance and fantasy, as well as children’s fiction. She particularly loves fantastical worldbuilding, deeply emotive characters, and strong voices.

Katie earned her BA in English from Manhattan University and a M.Ed. from Fordham University. Motivated by her love of reading, she taught middle school English for sixteen years. Later, her passion for books and business led her to intern at multiple agencies. Grateful for her English degree, business experience, and contract/negotiation knowledge, she is excited to apply those experiences to helping writers navigate their literary careers. Though born in New York, she currently lives in Utah where she spends her free time camping, mountain biking, and skiing.

KATIE IS SEEKING:

  • Katie is looking for Romantasy, but blended with another genre—something unique! She is comfortable with all spice levels.
  • Katie would like a commercial RomCom. Bonus points if it is blended with another genre. Perhaps a RomCom Mystery or a RomCom Horror blend? While she does read contemporary at times, she's more interested in genre blends in this space. Get creative here!
  • Katie loved the YA dystopian era of the 2010s. She would love to see a fresh dystopian in the NA space, with or without some romance sprinkled in.
  • Dark academia AND/OR whimsical stories. Katie doesn't shy away from dark stories, but she also likes light, playful books as well. Lean in here. Get real dark or, alternatively, bring the whimsy. Katie likes both extremes.
  • Cozy fantasy. Or cozy anything really.
  • Folk horror/romance blend. She leans less gore and more into the atmospheric/psychological side of horror.
  • Katie once heard about two elderly people who broke out of a nursing home to head to a rock concert and ever since then, she's wanted to read a book focused on that demographic. That could be an adventure (like The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper), a fantasy (maybe someone developing their magic in an old age), or a romance.
  • Katie is open to sci-fi, but her tastes are narrower here. She doesn't like space opera (never say never?) or sci-fi that feels extremely techy, but if your sci-fi reads like a fantasy, she's open to it.
Don’t hesitate to query Katie with another genre in the YA-NA-Adult space. Those are the genres she's most specifically wanting right now, but she's open to being surprised by something you’ve written.
KidLit writers- Please follow Katie on socials because she will be open to you at some point!
