ABOUT THE AGENT: Born and raised in Mexico, Daniela Landero (Dany, for short) moved to the United States with her parents and dog at fourteen years old. She found a home in books at an early age, which pushed her to pursue a degree in English Language and Literature from Georgetown University, as well as a Minor in Film and Media Studies. Her passion for stories translates across mediums, and she started her career writing screenplay coverage professionally (some of the movies she covered were actually made!), and assisting production companies with pre-production duties. Inevitably, her love for books called her to the world of publishing, and she joined Ladderbird with the aim of helping talented writers from marginalized communities develop flourishing careers. DANIELA IS SEEKING: Dany is exclusively taking on clients from underrepresented and marginalized communities who write horror and thriller fiction in the Adult and New Adult spaces. She’s most interested in works that explore the beauty and terror of the human experience for groups who have been historically silenced. She particularly enjoys elements of Gothic horror, magical realism, folklore, and/or mythology combined with beautifully introspective prose that leans into the discomfort of its genre. HOW TO SUBMIT: All queries must be submitted through Daniela's Query Manager. Visit our the Agents page to determine who will be the best fit for your work. Please do not query more than one agent at Ladderbird at a time. If two agents like your work it could result in bloodshed and we try to keep that to a minimum. Make sure you're sending your work to the right person. Please note: When we post a New Agent Spotlight, we try to make sure the agent is open to submissions at the time of posting. But as time goes by, an agent can close and open to submissions at any time. If some time has passed since this spotlight was posted, you will want to check their agency website and/or QueryManager before submitting, to be sure. Attend a Writers Conference in 2026:
