ABOUT THE AGENT:

Andrea Colvin founded Andrea Colvin Creative Agency in 2025 after three decades in the publishing industry. For the past 15 years she has held a variety of editorial leadership roles. She founded Little, Brown Ink, the graphic novel imprint from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, was editor in chief at the inclusive comics publisher Lion Forge, and spearheaded Andrews McMeel Publishing’s push into children’s books. She is best known for having acquired and published the graphic memoir Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe, one of the most banned books in the US for the past half decade, and for her development role in Jerry Craft’s New Kid, the first graphic novel to win the prestigious Newbery Award.

Andrea’s list focuses on books and illustration for young people, from picture books through new adult. She is especially looking to represent illustrators, middle-grade and YA prose authors, and creative nonfiction aimed at kids.

She lives in New York City with her partner, teenage daughter, and elderly pets.

ANDREA IS SEEKING:
Graphic Novels: ACCA is looking for graphic novels for early readers through adult. Social issues, school stories, creative nonfiction, friendship tales, queer romance, clean teen romance, adventure, mystery solvers, books with puzzles, memoir for all ages, and selective fantasy and sci-fi. At this time ACCA is looking mainly for graphic novel projects from author/illustrators, not script-only submissions. ACCA is happy to consider graphic novel artists who don’t have story pitches, however.

Middle Grade: family stories, historical fiction, mystery, BIPOC, strong voice, fresh fantasy, creative nonfiction, adventure, neurodivergence, animal stories, folklore retellings, retellings of classics, queer stories, stories by and about historically marginalized and under-represented communities.

Young Adult and New Adult: romance, romantasy, slow burn, contemporary, rom com, novels in verse, retellings, humor, fantasy

Picture books: big ideas, sweet stories, clever humor, and very creative nonfiction

Illustrators: ACCA is looking for illustrators interested in storytelling in multiple formats (picture books, graphic novels, interior chapter book illustrations, covers), and in illustrating their own and others’ stories.

What ACCA is Not a Good Fit For:
  • Nonfiction for the adult market
  • Literary fiction for the adult market
  • Sci-fi and fantasy for the adult market
  • Script-only graphic novel pitches (except from published comics writers)
  • Horror
HOW TO SUBMIT:

  • Please send all queries via the Submission Form on the ACCA website, or to [email protected] with “Query” in the subject line.
  • Novels (middle-grade and YA): Please send a query letter, bio, and the first 10 to 20 pages of your manuscript.
  • Picture books: Please send a query letter, bio, and your manuscript and/or dummy as an attachment. If you are an illustrator, please also include a link to your portfolio.
