Jackie Garcia-Morales is a mixed Puerto Rican neurodivergent professional and career changer from STEM to publishing. She began her career in trade marketing, publicity, and sales at Penguin Random House and Baker & Taylor, alongside work with boutique presses and freelance reviewing for Kirkus Indie and Publishers Weekly. She also has experience in academic and peer-reviewed publishing, including acting as editor of a nonprofit journal for clinical herbalism.

An advocate for underrepresented voices, Jackie is the NJ Ambassador for USBBY and a two-time Outstanding International Books Committee member. She is the founder of the Catalyst Creators Scholarship and co-director of The Storytellers Foundation and its Top 100-ranked, Spotify Award-winning kidlit podcast dedicated to demystifying publishing.

Jackie’s career in agenting began through Writers House (WHIP). She is excited to continue as an Associate Literary Agent at Storm, as well as serve as the team's Foreign Rights Agent. Jackie brings deep empathy for creatives alongside a strategic, market-informed approach to representation. Her goal is to combine advocacy, empowerment, and business acumen to help clients build sustainable, successful creative careers.

JACKIE IS SEEKING:

Children’s Literature: Seeking author-illustrators that want to work across fiction and nonfiction picture books, chapter books, and graphic novels (spanning age audiences). Particularly interested in STEM/STEAM, social-emotional learning, irresistible humor/silly, mystery, epic adventure, mindfulness/similar wellness concepts, and stories centering diverse or underrepresented lived experiences, including neurodiversity, disability, multicultural identity, and unconventional family structures.

*If you are querying as an author-illustrator with an interest in PBs, please be prepared to potentially send over 3-5 dummies. Likewise, if you write across age categories, please be prepared to potentially share synopses or outlines of your other projects beyond query-ready ones.

MG: Only authors who cross over into other age categories such as YA, in addition to writing MG. Seeking age-appropriate horror and mysteries, as well as epic adventure. Groups of friends acting as sleuths and loners/odd kids finding their power. Plots that touch on empowerment and open the door for real-life conversations (think: Publishers Weekly's Tough Topics list).

YA, YA Crossover, & New Adult: Looking for mystery/whodunnit outside of procedural settings, psychological thriller/suspense, horror with heart and women-winning endings, dystopian futures, queer stories, anti-heroes, morally gray romance balanced by plot, complicated soulmates, and character-driven commercial fiction with emotional depth and strong hooks.

Adult: Interested in accessible nonfiction from experts in STEAM, medicine, feminism, ecology, spirituality/metaphysical/new age topics, holistic wellness, spooky paranormal, UFO phenomena + fun rabbit-hole conspiracy theories, and lifestyle topics such as homesteading, non-toxic living, bushcraft, and alternative lifestyles. Open to memoirs or hybrid memoirs (e.g. cookbook memoir, photojournalism memoir) from authors with very established platforms.

Overall Interests: Jackie gravitates toward witty banter and sharp dialogue, unexpected comedy in horror, atmospheric writing, suspense that glues you to the page, plot twists, witchy vibes, upmarket commercial fiction, culturally layered narratives, BIPOC or underrepresented creators and characters, and the ability to make difficult concepts digestible.

Dream Project Unicorns: Projects with the energy of the next NBC's Hannibal, Jeff Lindsay's/Showtime's Dexter, CW's Supernatural, Aaron Blabey's Pig the Pug, Mary Roach's Stiff

Not Seeking: Text-only picture book authors, rhyming picture books, chapter book only authors, historical or period fiction, poetry/short story collections, explicit SA and violence, portal/high fantasy, fae/vampire stories, didactic tales, or stories with tragic endings for the main character.

Jackie only takes submissions through QueryManager. Query here: https://querytracker.net/query/JackieGarciaMorales
